Truck crushes soldier to death at checkpoint in bauchi

An Army officer was, Tuesday, killed by a speeding trailer while on duty at
military check point along Bauchi -Jos road.

It was learnt that the incident occurred on Monday at about 9pm.
It was further gathered that the trailer which belongs to Dangote Group of
Company approached the check point on high speed and as a result
crushed the deceased identified as Private Samuel Bulus, attached to 33
artillery brigade Bauchi.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Bauchi State Command, DSP Haruna
Mohammed who confirmed the incident said the Dangote Trailer with
registration Number DAL 22 YE driven by a 52 years old Mohammed Girgiri
which was loaded with Dangote cement from Abajana in Kogi State was
heading to Damaturu in Yobe State when the unfortunate accident occurred.

He said, “The trailer while on high speed lost control and hit an Army
personnel on duty, one Private Samuel Bulus attached to 33 artillery brigade
at the checkpoint.
As a result, victim sustained various degrees injuries and
was rushed to General Hospital Toro where he was certified dead by a
medical doctor.

Haruna said the Scene of accident was visited by police patrol team
attached to Toro Division and corpse has been moved to 33 artillery
brigade Bauchi.

He said the the truck driver and two other occupants escaped through the
bush immediately the accident occurred saying the case under
investigation.
